Ikuko Yoshida

Ikuko Yoshida is Master Teacher of Japanese for the Regional Center for Languages and Cultures at Bennington College in Bennington, Vermont. She received an MA in TESOL from Saint Michael's College in Vermont. She has been at Bennington College since 1998 and has taught Japanese in grades K-12 and to high school students, as well as at the College level. She has made several presentations on different ways of teaching Japanese at the American Council for the Teaching of Foreign Languages conference.

Virginie Delfosse-Reese

Virginie Delfosse-Reese is Master Teacher of French for the Regional Center for Languages and Cultures at Bennington College in Bennington, Vermont. She received an M.A. and a Ph.D. in French from the University of Iowa. She has been at Bennington College since 1997 and has taught both high school and college classes, as well as immersion weekends for French teachers. She has made presentations on the use of technology and on different ways of teaching literature and language at the American Association of French convention, the American Council for the Teaching of Foreign Languages conference and the Vermont Foreign Language Association convention.

Short description of the presentation

Have you ever used paintings in your language class? How did you use them? Paintings can be an effective way to teach languages and cultures. They are rich in culture and students of any level can react to what they see. The presenters will demonstrate how paintings can help students of different levels develop their language skills and cultural knowledge. The presentation will be in English.
